EXW, FCA, FOB and DDP for Bra Orders: Compare Responsibilities

Under ICC's guidance, EXW generally makes goods available at the named place without loading the collecting vehicle. FCA assigns export clearance to the seller and defines a carrier handoff. FOB delivery occurs on board the vessel at the named shipment port. DDP places delivery at the named destination, ready for unloading, with seller-arranged import clearance.

FOB is not a synonym for a factory-gate price and should not label an air-courier handoff. For container or multimodal movements, discuss an appropriately named FCA point with the parties arranging transport. Under FCA, delivery at the seller's premises includes loading the buyer's vehicle; at another agreed place, the arriving goods are ready for unloading.

DDP is not automatically available on every route: the seller must be able to meet the destination's import requirements. Confirm the actual importer, broker and document responsibilities with the appropriate advisers. For these four rules, do not assume a purchase quote includes a particular cargo-insurance policy; request the agreed coverage or exclusions explicitly.

Record the named point, included origin charges, international transport, destination charges, customs work and unloading. Identify exclusions so two parties do not both pay the same service. For a bra order, also record carton dimensions, weight, packing specification and who supplies any warehouse labels. Requote if the shipment scope changes.
