Bra Import Classification and Documents: A Verification Checklist

By LXSC · Sourcing and product-development guides

LXSC sourcing guide: catalogue wholesale from 100 pieces per model; new-design development from 10,000 pieces
LXSC sourcing guide cover. It is not a product photograph, factory-process record or test result.

Customs classification starts with the actual goods, not a website category or a copied six-digit code. Describe the garment, materials, construction and how it is supplied, then obtain the complete destination classification and applicable requirements. This checklist is a preparation tool, not a binding classification or legal opinion.

Describe the actual product and set contents

Provide model references, photographs, component composition and garment construction. If a shipment includes bras, briefs, camisoles or sets, list the contents and packaging arrangement instead of assuming one code covers everything. Ask the adviser which additional facts are needed before a classification can be finalized.

Check the complete destination line and date

Use the destination's current official tariff tools and have the relevant classification and measures reviewed for the entry date. A short supplier code does not establish every national subdivision or charge. The USITC tariff publications and the European Commission's Access2Markets portal are official starting points; they do not replace a conclusion based on your actual goods.

Verify origin and any preference claim separately

Do not infer origin solely from the shipping country. If preferential treatment is proposed, ask which agreement, origin conditions and supporting documents apply to that shipment. Possessing a certificate is not by itself proof that every eligibility condition is satisfied. Confirm who can supply the required evidence before building a lower duty assumption into the buying decision.

Reconcile the document pack before dispatch

Review invoice descriptions, model quantities, packing-list totals and transport instructions together. Confirm required importer details and any destination-specific product information through the appropriate adviser. Record the preparer, reviewer and version for each document; do not silently replace a product description to obtain a preferred classification. Retain the assessment and actual shipment records for later orders.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a bra-and-brief set automatically use the bra's code?+

Do not assume so. Give the adviser the complete contents and presentation for the applicable destination classification review.

Does an origin certificate automatically mean zero duty?+

No. Confirm the agreement, product eligibility, origin conditions and documentation for the actual shipment.
