Period Underwear Manufacturing: Specifications and Tests to Verify
By LXSC · Sourcing and product-development guides

A period-underwear manufacturing brief should define the garment, the proposed use and the evidence needed to support each claim. The words leakproof, heavy flow and reusable are not interchangeable specifications. Neither a generic fabric certificate nor ownership of seamless equipment proves that a finished absorbent garment performs as advertised.
Describe the actual layer construction
Ask the supplier to identify the sample and record each layer's material, dimensions and location. Include the gusset's front and rear extent, attachment method, seam positions, waistband and leg-opening construction. Do not assume all period underwear uses the same number of layers or joining process.
Keep a marked sample or drawing alongside the specification. If a layer, barrier, adhesive or joining method changes, determine which tests and claims need review before approving a substitute.
| Part | Supplier to document |
|---|---|
| Skin-contact layer | Composition, source and sample reference |
| Absorbent and barrier layers | Material, dimensions and joining method |
| Gusset edges | Coverage and attachment drawing |
| Finished garment | Model, size, colour and version |
Make absorbency and wash results comparable
Have a competent testing provider agree the method appropriate to the intended claim. Record the test medium, dose, timing, pressure or motion conditions, leakage end point, sample count and individual results. A maximum result from one piece should not silently become a whole-range rating.
For wash-related statements, specify detergent, temperature, cycle, drying method and the number of completed cycles. Evaluate the same performance before and after the agreed treatment. Do not import generic light, moderate or heavy millilitre bands from another brand's marketing.
Separate chemical testing from functional performance
OEKO-TEX describes STANDARD 100 as testing textiles for harmful substances and provides a label-check service. A certificate must be checked for its actual article and scope; it is not an absorbency or leak-resistance report. This article does not assert that LXSC or any proposed product holds that certification.
Keep proposed wording, the relevant evidence and the permitted product scope together. Destination-market legal requirements and voluntary certifications are different questions; obtain the appropriate professional review before printing labels.
Confirm capability before approving development
Request the factory's role in each operation, the relevant sample history and the tests it can arrange. Classify the project as verified existing product, development requiring validation, or not yet feasible. A generic bra inspection checklist cannot replace absorbent-product testing.
LXSC original-design custom production starts from 10,000 pieces, with project feasibility and quantity allocation to be confirmed. No period-underwear availability, test result or low-volume custom capability is established by this guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are heavy-flow ratings universal?+
Do not assume they are comparable. Obtain the definition and test conditions for the specific model and proposed claim.
Does a fabric certificate prove the finished underwear is leakproof?+
No. Confirm the certificate's scope separately from a model-specific functional test report.
