Comfort and Sustainability Claims: Evidence to Ask a Lingerie Supplier For
By LXSC · Sourcing and product-development guides

Softness, breathability, recycled content and environmental benefit answer different questions. A comfortable sample is not automatically sustainable, and a named fibre does not establish a health benefit. Use an evidence register to connect each statement to the actual model, material and scope instead of relying on broad marketing adjectives.
Distinguish a wearer's observation from a measured property
A wearer can report that a sample feels soft or that a seam is noticeable under stated conditions. Keep that feedback attached to the sample size, wear setting and participant group. Do not convert it into universally non-irritating or allergy-free wording.
For a quantified property such as fabric weight, stretch recovery or a moisture-management result, request the method, conditions and material or garment identification. An attractive hand-feel description is not a substitute for those records.
Make environmental statements specific and bounded
The US FTC's Green Guides summary advises against broad, unqualified environmental-benefit claims and calls for clear, specific qualifications. Treat that as US guidance, not a substitute for checking the rules in every destination.
Ask exactly what a proposed statement covers: the main fabric, a component, packaging or the entire garment. Request the relevant composition and traceability evidence. A claim about one recycled component should not silently become a claim that the whole bra is recycled or environmentally preferable.
Use one record for wording, evidence and limits
The following is a review template, not a list of properties already verified for LXSC. Keep unconfirmed statements out of approved sales copy. A certificate must match its holder, scope, validity and relevant article; it does not support unrelated functional or environmental claims.
| Proposed statement | Required evidence | Scope and status |
|---|---|---|
| Feels soft in a wear trial | Identified sample and recorded observations | Conditions and participant limits |
| Measured fabric property | Method, date, sample and results | Exact material or finished model |
| Recycled-content percentage | Relevant composition and traceability documents | Component versus complete garment |
| Certification claim | Valid record and permitted wording | Covered article and current status |
| Environmental comparison | Defined baseline and substantiation | Like-for-like scope and trade-offs |
Recheck claims when the product changes
A new material supplier, colour, finish, adhesive or component may affect the evidence supporting a statement. Assign a reviewer and record the approved wording, version and next review trigger. Do not carry a previous supplier's certificate onto a replacement material without checking scope.
Ask LXSC for the relevant material and process information for the specific enquiry. This guide makes no claim that an LXSC product is recycled, certified sustainable, medically safer or guaranteed to produce repeat purchases. If evidence is not available, use accurate construction and composition information instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a soft or breathable bra automatically qualify as sustainable?+
No. Comfort observations and environmental claims require different evidence and clearly defined scope.
Can a fabric certificate support every claim about the finished bra?+
No. Verify the covered article, validity and exact claim. A certificate cannot be used as evidence for unrelated properties.
